How important is the Bible?

How important is the Bible? Well, I believe it to be, literally, the word of God. If it is the word of God, consider the following.

“God said, ‘Let there be light; and there was light” (Genesis 1:3). Each part of the creation of this universe was accomplished by His word. When God speaks, His word carries authority and power. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:1, 14). The Son of God came to reveal God and is declared to be His word.” That revelation is in the Bible.

Jesus prayed “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” (John 17:17) The word sanctifies, sets one apart to God.

2nd Timothy 3:16: “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2nd Timothy 3:16-17).

You often times hear people talk about a self-help book that they bought or heard about. And they tell you all the things it says to do in order for you to be happy. Yet, the greatest self-help book there is, is the Bible. The One who created us, probably knows what we need better than we do. God graciously gave us His word to guide us and ensure we are prepared and equipped for not only this life, but for eternity when our time too shall come to pass.

So, I ask you again. How important is the Bible? It is worth whatever time and effort you devote to studying and following it. It’s worth your soul if you don’t listen and follow our Father’s words.
