

Paul and Timothy
Everyone needs a mentor. Everyone needs someone just ahead of where they are in their growth, while everyone also needs to mentor those coming up behind them. The relationship between Paul and Timothy is arguably the best example of mentorship in the Scriptures. And it starts with their attitude. To be mentored, Timothy had to be humble and teachable, and not act as if he knew it all. While in Paul’s case, he had to exercise patience, as young Timothy grew in faith and wisdom


Matthew 25: The Parable of the Ten Virgins
In Matthew 25:1-13, we read of the parable of the ten virgins: five who were wise, five others who were foolish. The five wise virgins brought lamps and extra oil, while the five foolish virgins brought lamps but no oil. When the bridegroom arrives at midnight, the five foolish are unprepared and shut out when they return from buying oil (v. 10). The lesson for us is about personal readiness; will we be ready for Jesus’ return? Be ready: We cannot neglect preparation. In v. 1


The Plan of Salvation
Have you ever been asked any of these questions, or even asked them yourself? What must I do to be saved? What am I saved from? Is baptism essential to salvation? How do I become a Christian? Let’s look at the scriptures to help guide our answers to these questions. First, we must recognize we are sinners. Our sin is our fault, and it is what separates us from God (Is. 59:1-2). Everyone is a sinner and in need of salvation (Rom. 3:10, 23). We must then recognize we are saved
