Shine Your Light

This week I want to challenge you. I want us to do what Jesus said in Matthew 5:16: “ Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” To just show others our commitment to God by living for Him.

When you do this, people will notice that you’re different, and they’ll be curious as to why. Or they will automatically know why; because you’re a Christian. This is one of the easiest way to spread the Good News. And it might just start a conversation that helps to bring someone to God. And what a blessing that is.

Maybe you haven’t been standing up for what’s right among your co-workers. Maybe you haven’t been setting a good example with your relatives. Maybe you shy away from talking about what you did over the weekend because it stands in stark contrast to what your friends did over the weekend. There is no better time than today to make a change. It can be intimidating the first time, but don’t lose faith. Be proud of your commitment and let your shine. Remember what Jesus in Matthew 5:11-12: “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

Whatever the situation, make an effort this week to let your light shine before men just a little brighter than before. So let them see your good works — not in a showy way, obviously. Do it with humility. But do it. If you do, you may be surprised at the doors that God opens for you. We2nd Timothy 4:2 “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with longsuffering and teaching.
