Godly Mothers: Making a Difference
When a mother loves her family as she should, there is no room for the word of God to be dishonored in her life or because of her life. Her very life and actions honor God, and those who see her in action will honor God. We must always appreciate this because Godly women are difference makers — in the home and in the church.
By God’s holy design, mothers have an opportunity to make a difference in this world that is unmatched. You want to make a real difference in this world? It begins in the home. Mothers make a difference:
By writing God’s will on the hearts of their children (Prov. 7:1-3): What’s the goal? To go to heaven, and to show our children the way to heaven. Start early and do it often, just like the Godly women in Timothy’s life did for him (II Tim. 1:5, 3:14-17). Mothers help their children and do what is best for them. Of course they’re going to make foolish mistakes. Of course they’re going to be immature at times. What they need is someone to show affection and warmth. Support them in Godly endeavors. Train them up to behave properly.
By recognizing that faith is the pathway to victory: What faith in action looks like is found in the first part of Prov. 14:1: “The wise woman builds her house.” But the second part of that verse is a warning: “But the foolish pulls it down with her hands.” By her very hands, a woman can tear down her own house. But a Godly mother is governed by sensibility, sound judgment and a sober mind when she guards the home (I Tim. 5:14; Titus 2:5). Husbands, please take note. Your wife has been given this role by God. You are to let her be the guard of the home.
By continuing to be difference makers after their own children are grown (Titus 2:3-5): This is one of the most beautiful aspects of the church. There are Godly women who take this passage seriously, but unfortunately, there are those who don’t. Older women, realize the younger women need encouragement and advice, not criticism or judging. They’re not where you are in life, but you’ve been where they’re at right now. And younger women, be receptive and open to advice and counsel on how to have a happy marriage; how to be a homemaker; and how to be a Godly mother.
