It's Meeting Time!

We have invited Bro. Neil Tremblett from Greenwood, IN, to be with us April 27-29 in the preaching of our spring gospel meeting for 2018. With our meeting starting next Friday, think about some things we can do to make this meeting a success.

Plan To Attend—Keep those dates open on your calendar so you will have no conflicts with the meeting. We need to work out things with our schedule so as to put first things first. The Lord said, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…” (Matt. 6:33). It will take away from the meeting if you’re not here (Heb. 10:23-25).

Invite Others—Do as Cornelius, who “called together his relatives and close friends” (Acts 10:24) when Peter was coming to “tell you words by which you and all your household will be saved” (Acts 11:14). The meeting will be an opportunity for people to hear “the power of God to salvation” (Rom. 1:16). Invite others to the meeting so they can make plans to come. Offer to pick them up and bring them to the meeting. Take a real interest in their soul!

Pray Every Day—I am challenging every member of the Tidewater church to pray every day, beginning today (unless you have already started before today) for the success of the meeting. Pray for Bro. Tremblett and for those you invite. Pray that the lost will be saved, the erring restored and the local church edified. There is power in prayer, as “the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16). Let’s use it! This meeting will be what we make it. Let’s put everything we can into the meeting to make it as successful as it can be.

Think about it—what if someone you invited desired to obey the gospel? How do you think that would make you feel? Why, there is nothing in this world that you could do that would make you any happier than being instrumental in one’s salvation (I Cor. 3:5-9; James 5).
